Gunner Midgley CWGC headstone dedication service

On Sunday 14th July 2019 we are holding a dedication ceremony for the new headstone on the grave of Gunner Gilbert Hardy Midgley who died on March 24, 1916 in the Great War whilst in service with the Royal Artillery. The ceremony begins at 13:00 hrs but we ask that people are by the graveside for 12:45 hrs.
There is limited parking inside the cemetery entrance or on the main road by it. We have arranged for local cadets to be on hand to direct people from the cemetery entrance to the grave. We anticipate that the ceremony will last for about 20 - 30 minutes and afterwards we will go along the road to Keighley Rugby Union Club for a buffet reception (it's just a few minutes drive away). All are welcome to attend.
The ceremony will consist of a welcoming address and short talk on Gilbert's life followed by the unveiling of his headstone and the act of remembrance including the Last Post, Silence and Reveille followed by the laying of wreaths and tributes. A hymn: 'Oh God our help in ages past' will be sung followed by the act of commitment and a final blessing.
Standards will be paraded and lowered for the silence accompanied by a guard of honour from local cadet groups.

Uniform, medals blazer etc may be worn but are not essential. What is essential is the presence of a good number of people to remember the service of this man who died for his country.
