Primary Source Information
We carry out our research using primary and secondary source information and use the information in these to create a time-line biography of the person. All the sources we use are fully referenced in our archive. Our database holds information on local people who served as far back as the Peninsula War and the Battle of Waterloo.
We have membership of Ancestry and FindMyPast and occasionally download items from the National Archives
At the moment this is just a list of resources but we will expand on these over time to explain how we use them in our research.
Some examples of primary sources that we use:
Birth, Marriage and Death records
Census records
Electoral and Burgess rolls - including 'absent voters'
Medals and Awards rolls
Army Service records
Army Pension records
Nursing records
Silver War Badge rolls
Commonwealth War Graves Commission records
Soldier's Effects records
Local hospital registers
Wills and Probate records
International Red Cross archives
RAF Casualty Record cards
War Diaries
Burial records
Local Archive information (Keighley Library)
If you are interested in working with us to carry out research we will be able to help you to locate and interpret these records.
